    Thinking Like a Cloud Architect

    Great cloud design starts before any service is chosen, with the requirements, the constraints, and the trade-offs. This module trains you to turn business goals into functional and non-functional requirements, set SLAs, SLOs, and error budgets, respect real-world constraints, and apply the Well-Architected Framework, reference architectures, and explicit trade-off analysis as a repeatable design lens. The goal is the architect's core skill: reasoning about trade-offs instead of chasing a single right answer.

    Patterns and Service Selection

    Every workload maps to a pattern and a set of services, and choosing well is the heart of the architect's job. This module walks the pattern catalog from monolith and multi-tier through microservices, serverless, and event-driven, and shows when each one earns its complexity. You then learn to choose across the compute, storage, and database spectrum, and to justify managed versus self-managed decisions with total cost of ownership rather than fashion.

    Designing for Scale and Resilience

    Advanced architectures are proven under load and under failure, not on a whiteboard. This module builds the scale toolkit (stateless tiers, load balancing, auto scaling, caching, and asynchronous queues), then the resilience toolkit (redundancy, availability zones and regions, RTO, RPO, and disaster recovery patterns). Throughout, you size the trade-off between availability and cost with real numbers, so every nine you buy is a deliberate decision rather than a reflex.

    Cost Optimization and Cloud Migration

    A design that works but overspends is a failed design, and most real cloud work is moving existing systems rather than building new ones. This module teaches you to architect for cost with the right pricing models, right-sizing, and FinOps discipline, then to plan a migration end to end: discovery, the 7 Rs, migration waves, a landing zone, and a safe cutover.
