Getting started
What is Fourth Tech?▾
Hands-on, practitioner-built training across cybersecurity, cloud, data, AI, IT and delivery. You don't just read theory: you do the work the job is measured on, assess a company against a framework, gather evidence, configure the system, write the document, and leave with artifacts you can show an employer.
Do I need a technical or IT background?▾
No. Every program starts from fundamentals and is built for career-changers. You need basic computer literacy and the willingness to do the hands-on work; the frameworks and the vocabulary are what we teach.
Is the training self-paced or live?▾
Self-paced, from the day you enrol: written lessons, graded quizzes, assignments and hands-on labs, in your own time. Two programs also include recorded video walkthroughs. Live cohorts run on a schedule when one is announced, and the bootcamps page shows exactly which are scheduled; most bootcamps do not currently have a live cohort open.
Is there a free way to start?▾
Yes. Introduction to Compliance Frameworks is free, and it is the first module of the real thing, not a sample. The first lesson of every paid course is also open to read before you buy.
How long does a program take?▾
Each program page states its estimated hours. A single course is typically a week or two of evenings; a bootcamp is roughly 40 to 70 hours, which most people spread over 6 to 10 weeks at 8 to 10 hours a week. There is no deadline inside your access window.
Programs
What's the difference between a course, a career path, and a bootcamp?▾
A course is a single credential on one topic. A career path sequences several courses toward a named role, such as GRC Analyst, and tracks your progress through all of them. A bootcamp is an intensive, role-based program with hands-on labs, and the flagship bootcamps end in a capstone. Take the quiz if you're not sure which fits.
What are the labs?▾
Two kinds. Atlas is our workbench: interactive labs where you take a fictional company through real GRC work: risk registers, SSPs, control assessments, POA&Ms, a Statement of Applicability, vendor assessments. Inside the courses there are more, matched to their modules: document labs where you build the worksheet or the plan, and terminal labs for the hands-on certifications, where you work in a simulated shell and the lab checks your commands.
Do programs include exams and a certificate?▾
Every module ends in a graded quiz, marked on our servers rather than in your browser. Many programs also end with a final exam, and the flagship career paths and bootcamps add a capstone project for your portfolio. You earn a Fourth Tech certificate on completion, with a public verification link an employer can check without calling us. Each program page says exactly what it includes.
Who builds the courses, and who reviews my work?▾
Fourth Tech builds every program in-house from the published standards, frameworks and vendor documentation the job is measured against, and edits and checks it before release. Our GRC, RMF and audit programs come directly from our founder's practice as a working federal RMF practitioner. Quizzes are graded automatically; assignments and capstones are reviewed by our team against the rubric published with each one. We do not claim a subject-matter expert for every field we teach. If a program's page names a reviewer, that person reviewed it; if it does not, nobody has yet.
Pricing & payment
How much do programs cost?▾
Individual courses run $199 to $499, career paths $850 to $1,399, and bootcamps $2,000 to $3,000 (£1,000 to £1,500 in the UK). One course is free. UK visitors see prices in pounds across the site and checkout charges in pounds. Exact pricing is on each program's page.
Do you offer payment plans?▾
Not at checkout, which takes a single payment. If you need to spread the cost, contact us before you enrol and we will set up a plan by invoice, typically three monthly payments for a bootcamp. See funding & payment options.
Can my employer pay or sponsor me?▾
Yes. We invoice employers directly and work with organizations sponsoring team training. See For Organizations, or contact us.
Do I get a receipt?▾
Yes. Every purchase, including an enrolment unlocked with an access code, gets a receipt by email with a PDF attached, showing what was paid, for what, and how.
How long do I have access?▾
Six months from the day you enrol, for every paid program, which is several times longer than any of them takes. Free courses are not time-limited.
Refunds & policies
What's your refund policy?▾
You can request a full refund within 3 calendar days of enrollment, as long as you've accessed no more than 5% of the content and haven't downloaded the course materials. Downloading the materials makes the enrollment non-refundable. Full details in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Where are your other policies?▾
All of them, including privacy, terms, academic integrity, conduct, and more, are on our Policies page.
Certificates & outcomes
Is the certificate accredited?▾
A Fourth Tech certificate recognizes completion of our training. It's not an accredited academic degree, and it's independent of certification bodies like (ISC)², CompTIA, ISACA, EC-Council and PMI, and of vendors like Epic. Our cert-prep programs prepare you for those exams; only the body itself issues the credential.
Will this get me a job?▾
No training can guarantee employment, and we don't publish outcome numbers we can't verify. What we promise is that you'll finish able to do the work, with a portfolio of real artifacts and role-specific interview preparation, not just a pass on a test.
Do you offer interview prep and career support?▾
Yes. Role-specific interview prep guides inside each program, a resume builder, and optional 1:1 coaching and interview sessions. See services.
